Chip grew up in Charleston, West Virginia and attended West Virginia University (WVU) where he graduated summa cum laude as the top-ranked student in the finance program. Upon graduation from WVU, Chip moved to Los Angeles to attend one of the nation’s top law schools at USC Gould School of Law. During law school, Chip served as the co-head of the Sports Law Society and also interned for a professional basketball agency. During law school, Chip was also a member of the Review of Law and Social Justice and authored an academic note assessing the constitutionality of restricting athletes’ speech and advocating for collectively-bargained speech protections for professional athletes. Chip graduated from USC Gould in 2020. 

Since graduating from USC, Chip has spent the last several years practicing law as a corporate attorney at a preeminent top-ranked international law firm, Ropes & Gray LLP, specializing in mergers and acquisitions. Chip’s practice and experience at Ropes & Gray includes representing private equity funds and companies in mergers and acquisitions and other strategic transactions in deals typically ranging from nine to eleven figures in total value. Chip’s experience also includes advising clients on general corporate governance matters, including, entity formation, drafting organizational documents, board and shareholder consents, drafting and negotiating equity awards, employment agreements, restrictive covenant agreements and insurance policies. Chip’s experience at Ropes & Gray also includes active involvement in the firm’s pro bono program, including counseling clients with respect to entity selection, formation of charities, and drafting and negotiation of agreements for low-income, independent artists. 

 

Chip is a licensed attorney in California and is an active member of the State Bar of California. Chip is a NFLPA certified agent and contract advisor.
